About the Reunion

The last 50 years have been years of tremendous transformation in Africa and the rest of the world, with science, technology and other mathematically enabled disciplines playing an ever-increasing role in daily lives.
Africa‘s transformation is accelerating and the continent is now one of the fastest growing regions of the world – continued growth will increasingly rely on young African leaders with world-class education in the mathematical sciences and enabling opportunities for them to join and lead knowledge-based enterprises in Africa.
In ten years, the AIMS network has established itself as one of the world‘s most innovative educational institutions, having trained over 450 students from 35 African countries and having expanded to a network of 3 centres across the continent. These graduates have a broad-based training in mathematical sciences and are talented problem solvers and innovators. Over 95% of current graduates have entered academia, teaching and research careers, having exceptional impacts on African education directly and indirectly.
The AIMS Global Alumni Reunion (GAR) brought African business, educational and political leaders together with AIMS alumni and leadership to discuss, make progress and form linkages around African transformation.
